About Us

Serco`s Prisoner Escort and Custody Services (PECS) contract for London and the East of England makes a critical contribution to the Criminal Justice System in England & Wales, by ensuring the safe, secure and decent transport of prisoners between courts and their associated prisons and police stations.

Overview of Role:

Your primary responsibility will be to effectively manage and develop your team of Prison Custody Officers either in the court or vehicle base to agreed performance goals, focusing on prisoner welfare whilst being compliant to all security and operational procedures.

Creating a positive working environment and promoting themes of decency, courtesy and consideration when managing prisoners will be key requirements of this role.

About You:

As the successful candidate you will be able to evidence previous operational and stakeholder management experience. Due to the complex and demanding court custodial environment, self motivation, flexibility, resilience and strong organisational skills are crucial.

As a manager of people you will be a confident communicator with the ability to drive forward team performance. You will have effective negotiating and influencing skills and proactive approach to problem resolution.

Previous experience in the criminal justice environment would be desirable.

Specific Requirements:

Serco Home Affairs is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office. Working flexibly over a 6 day period (Monday to Saturdays) with a willingness and ability to travel within the UK where required including off site meetings, sometimes necessitating overnight stays.

Computer literate with good report writing skills.

Salary: £27,750 this includes London Weighting
