Commercial, Procurement, Contract Management and Information Analyst Opportunities with the Department of Health –Various grades
Do you want to work for an organisation that helps people live better and longer?
Are you a strategic procurement professional who wants to be involved in projects that improve health outcomes?
Do you challenge the status quo, always look for improvement and want to make a difference?
A commercial role with the Department of Heath could be for you. We are a ministerial department supported by 23 agency organisations and public bodies to make sure that people have the support, care and treatment that they need with the compassion, respect and dignity they deserve.
The Department of Health’s Procurement, Investment and Commercial Division plays a unique role in driving efficiencies and unlocking value across the healthcare system. Around £110 billion per annum is spent on the NHS, and by improving the efficiency with which this money is spent we can deliver better outcomes for patients and better value for money for tax payers.
Delivering behaviour change across a devolved healthcare system is a fantastic challenge and one that requires us to recruit people with deep expertise, the ability to influence others, excellent judgement and the confidence and desire to drive improvements across the system.
You will use your commercial skills and experience to maximise value for money whilst delivering objectives and complying with regulations. You'll use market intelligence to identify opportunities then develop strategies to proactively engage with key suppliers.
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including our arms-length bodies, the Crown Commercial Service and other government departments.
This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your considerable skills to an organisation that has a real and tangible impact on the everyday lives of people across the UK. Working in a commercial role within a large central government department provides the opportunity to get involved in a range of cross government initiatives from increasing commercial capability across government, developing a commercial apprenticeship scheme, working with Crown Commercial Service on the procurement of common goods and services through to influencing the agenda around Small to Medium Sized enterprises – the scope is vast.
There is a range of benefits available to staff working for the Department including access to the Civil Service Pension scheme and flexible working arrangements. Successful candidates can be based in Leeds or London and the post is also available on a secondment basis to applicants currently working for central government.
Send your CV along with a covering letter that clearly identifies the role(s) you are interested in and an explanation of how you meet the requirements to DH-Recruitment@dh.gsi.gov.uk. The closing date for applications for all posts is 24th November 2014.
