A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housing Manager to join West Dorset District Council and Weymouth and Portland Borough Council. The partnership has responsibility for all service delivery, developing and delivering the respective policies and plans of each partner council. The partnership has been recognised in a recent peer review as leading edge and we are building on this partnership exploring a tri-council partnership with a neighbouring authority. The Partnership expects their senior people to be flexible and forward thinking as there are two key elements of this role. Firstly, responsibility for a group of services and strategic priorities with a focus on accountability and delivering results. Secondly a corporate element contributing towards the leadership and management of the partnership, working with other services and partners to deliver the corporate priorities of the two Councils. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Housing Strategy and Enabling, Housing Improvement, Housing Solutions including the prevention of homelessness and Administration for the Communities Directorate. Leading the Housing service and functions for the two Councils, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the budget and performance of the responsible service area. You will be required to support the partnership through effective management of the political relationships with members across two Councils, supporting all aspects of the democratic process. You will be expected to lead the delivery of the housing strategy and to develop a high performing culture that delivers results.Candidates will need to be educated to first degree (or equivalent) level; and/or extensive experience in the relevant work areas and have a Chartered Institute of Housing Level 4 Qualification or equivalent membership and will have a proven track record of continuous managerial development. It is essential that candidates are able to demonstrate experience of working within the social housing sector and be able to deliver at a senior level, in the relevant work areas including both strategic planning and the leadership and motivation of staff.The Partnership place great emphasis on valuing their employees and encouraging a work life balance.
