Accounts Team Leader

We are a small team at Bainbridge Lewis Chartered Accountants and we work in a relaxed atmosphere. We will expect you to be flexible, friendly and up for any challenge.

As a modern accountancy practice, our business is based around making the day to day running of our clients' businesses as easy for them as possible so that we have time to work with them on business growth and development. We do this using online accountancy software and add-ons so you need to be very comfortable with changing technology.

We are not looking for a number cruncher but someone who is really interested in helping small businesses and helping people to succeed. The role, which has a £35,000 salary, is largely office-based but will involve some client meetings and attendance at business events. Our normal working hours are 8.30 to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Key role responsibilities:

• Making sure the clients are happy and feel in control of their businesses• Liaising with clients and dealing with their day to day queries• Maintaining and updating the CRM system with all client details and communications• Ensure that the team's knowledge of Xero features and other Add-Ons is up to date through Xero training and webinars• Managing the workflow of the accounts production, tax returns and bookkeeping work to keep turnaround times to a minimum and ensure all deadlines are met.• Management of office systems and processes• Preparation of statutory company accounts, company tax returns and management accounts• Preparation of accounts for unincorporated businesses and personal tax returns• Mentoring and coaching of junior staff

You will also be expected to help out wherever needed including answering phones and basic administrative duties.

Qualifications and experience required:

• ACCA/ACA qualification• Experience of dealing with small businesses from start up to £2m turnover• Experience of managing a team including training and mentoring• Outstanding communication skills• Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills• An enthusiasm for small business• Experience of using Xero online accounting software would be an advantage

You must also have superb communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to train, mentor and develop others. A highly organised approach and a meticulous eye for detail is also key.
