A leading FMCG manufacturer is currently seeking a Senior Buyer to support the procurement team.
The Senior Buyer will be required To source, negotiate, agree & manage contracts with suppliers, for the sites raw materials & services, in order to deliver the most competitive overall cost of supply. Along with the day to day management of these suppliers. While ensuring all quality, food standards are met & raw materials are sourced from technically approved suppliers.
Working with current suppliers or seeking out new suppliers which will offer us a competitive advantage through NPD and Pure Innovation to our sector.
Senior Buyer Responsibilities
The proposal of suppliers for raw materials or services to site, to the Purchasing Manager.
Provide expertise in the management of the supplier’s performance covering; quality, service, technical standards, innovation and continuous improvements. In conjunction other departments as required.
Develop and implement appropriate long and short term strategic and tactical initiative in order to achieve specific buying, sourcing targets.
Assist in the delivery of the sites, group purchasing & purchasing’s departmentsKPI’s
Write & manage a Source Plan for each of their categories, which will include; risk to the business by commodity and have a robust contingency plan in place.
Provide the business with up-to-date knowledge on suppliers, markets and trends.
Have input into the sites purchasing strategy, including Budgets & 4 Year plans.
Delivering positive results based on the above.
Responsible for the welfare, management and development of their team in order to achieve optimum operational effectiveness.
Implementing & Maintain effective systems to support the Department and Group Purchasing.
As / if required by the site, manage, implement and maintain raw material stock holding and ensure materials remain in constant stock, based on sales forecast.
Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety, Technical and Environmental requirements in the purchase and services.
Provide knowledge & a sound understanding of Contract Law & Legal requirements for the function.
Support and assist in the effective and appropriate sourcing and pricing of New Product Development and improvement activities.
Develop close working relationships and promote overall integration with NPD, Planning, Commercial, Technical and Finance teams to ensure strong formal link on all purchasing activities.
Initiate and participate in cross functional and department team work in order to achieve the business plan for the growth of profit, development of people and quality improvement.
Represent the Purchasing Department in sites or group meeting.
You will be a senor buyer used to working in a high paced manufacturing environment; you will ideally have experience working with a food manufacturer, and have made you retailer experience.
