Taylor & Francis Group, a leading global academic Publisher, are currently looking for an ambitious and motivated Publisher to join a hard-working and successful publishing team. Working with the Editorial Director the Publisher will oversee the management and development of our Mathematics and Statistics, History of Science, and Science & Technology Studies journals portfolios, and foster their future growth. This is a varied and demanding role, involving direct management of an Editorial Assistant, and liaison with an international group of journal editors.
Core responsibilities include:Identifying acquisition opportunities and gaps in the market for new product developmentCreating proposals for Society journal tendersLeading journal bidsContract negotiationsBuilding and maintaining good relationships with a global group of academic editors and Society contactsPlanning and oversight of journal budgets, including the preparation of financial projectionsRealising opportunities for organic growthLiaising with colleagues in Marketing, Production and other departments and regional officesMaking presentations at editorial board meetingsConference attendanceHelping manage departmental administration
Candidates should ideally be of graduate level or equivalent with significant experience in academic journal publishing, and experience of managing people. The role demands energy and creative flair, sound commercial acumen and excellent communication skills. Familiarity with Mathematics and Statistics | History of Science | Science & Technology Studies and an awareness of the current challenges facing the commercial journal publisher will be an advantage. The candidate should be competent with the Microsoft Office suite of programmes (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook).
