Head of Cost Management and Procurement (Quantity Surveyor)
The Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) is the leading network of independent girls’ schools in the UK. We educate approximately 8% of all girls at UK independent schools and there are approximately 20,000 pupils in the 24 GDST schools and two academies throughout England and Wales. The GDST employs c.4000 staff and has an annual turnover in excess £200m.The Estates Department acts on behalf of the Trust and deals with all property related matters to ensure that the estate is developed and maintained to agreed standards.
We are continuing to deliver an ambitious capital development and estate investment programme across the GDST estate portfolio and are seeking to appoint a Head of Cost Management and Procurement to play a leading role in the delivery of this programme. Reporting to the Director of Estates the postholder will act as the lead commercial expert within the Estates Directorate with regards to capital investment, maintenance and sustainability projects and programmes across the Estate portfolio. Key aspects of the role include leading on contract procurement and supply chain management, cost planning and forecasting across a diverse range of projects and programmes.
The successful candidate will possess significant experience in a quantity surveying, cost management or commercial management role, preferably with experience gained in related sector types. You will have proven quantity surveying and cost management skills including extensive experience of cost planning, forecasting and budgeting, value engineering and contract procurement.
Strong supply chain management skills are required and it is therefore anticipated that you will have excellent interpersonal skills, with high level oral and written communication skills. It is anticipated that the appointed candidate will have a professionally recognised cost/commercial management related qualification.
