Senior Design Engineer (Fixed Telecoms)

Our Client is an internationally recognised, leading Principal contractor within the rail and infrastructure market. They are currently seeking to recruit a number of Senior Fixed Telecoms Design Engineers to work on UK and International railway projects. Reporting to the Engineering Manager for Fixed Telecoms, you will be responsible for undertaking the design and delivery of the engineering aspects of Fixed Telecoms tenders and projects.As the successful candidate you will have the following responsibilities:• Delivery of Fixed Telecoms design and engineering activities.• Lead Fixed Telecoms engineering tasks to deliver system development and implementation.• Produce technical and Health and Safety documentation deliverables to meet project requirements.• Undertake the role of Tester In Charge (TIC) or Test Assistant on Fixed Telecoms Projects supporting the nominated Person In Charge OF Testing (PICOT).• Plan, co-ordinate and manage Fixed Telecoms engineering tasks including resources and equipment.• Report Fixed Telecoms engineering task progress and status.• Support the provision of estimating for engineering projects and tenders with regard to engineering resources, plans, technology, risk and process.• Ensure the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools are applied throughout the engineering life cycle.• Identify and report project scope change.As the ideal candidate you will have the following experience:• HNC/HND or equivalent in relevant subject• Knowledge of BS7671 17th Edition wiring regulations desirable.• IRSE License in relevant category (Telecoms Design)• Proven experience in Tester In Charge (TIC) role• An engineering background with previous experience in a relevant Fixed Telecoms engineering environment.• Proven success leading and motivating a team• Experience and knowledge of implementation project engineering processes covering development, design, construction, test, commissioning and handover.• Knowledge and application of requirements management.• Proven flexibility in the role as it requires an element of travelling and unsociable hours working which may include night working, weekend working and bank holiday working.• Proven experience of supervising delivery of Operational Telecommunications systems engineering activities in the rail environment.System knowledge of: o Copper Cableo Optical Fibre Cableo Lineside Cable Routeo Transmission SDH and PDHo Network switches and routerso Modem Systemso Immunisation Systemso Signal Post Telephone Concentrator Systemso PABX Telephony systemso Voice Over IPo Lineside Telephonyo Public Emergency Telephone Systemo Driver Only Operation (Mirror, CCTV, Monitor)o GSM-Ro Cab Secure Radioo Uninterruptible Power Supplieso Charger and Battery Power Supplieso Rail Signalling System Circuitso Earthing Systemso Station Information and Security System CCTV, PA, Help PointPositions are available in a number of in the West Midlands, North West and North East.For more information or to apply for this role, please contact Paul Ledingham (020 3586 3002) or email
