Assistant Project Manager - Construction

Serco are currently recruiting for an Assistant Project Managers to work at DSTL in Porton Down on a significant construction project. The role will involve working a 37 hour week, Monday- Friday 0830-1700. The role of the Assistant Project Manager is to assist in the implementation of the Major Infrastructure Project Office (MIPO) strategy in accordance with the activities outlined in the Serco/Dstl Governance documentation and in line with the direction of the Project Manager.
The Defence Science and Technology laboratory maximises the impact of science and technology for UK defence and security - giving the right science and technology advice at the right time. We provide the government with a wide programme of research and scientific and technical support, delivered from internal and external resources.
Duties and responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be required to assist their assigned Project Manager in coordinating all stakeholder management, contract management, and project documentation that include, but not limited to the following:Project Coordination & Project ControlsProject Schedule AdherenceProject Meeting Scheduling, Minutes and DocumentationProject Report GenerationChange ManagementContract Administration
The candidate will work with their assigned project manager to help achieve their respective project management objectives. This position reports directly to the assigned Project Manager and/or MIPO Director.
Essential Skills and ExperienceAble to work mainly at Porton Down, Wiltshire, with occasional trips to Sevenoaks, Kent as necessaryThe successful candidate must be able to achieve unrestricted UK Security Clearance (SC level) in line with the MOD requirements. To gain SC clearance you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.Proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic fast pace environment.Superior communication and organization development skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and manage cross-functional teams.Experience with Microsoft Office.
