Part Time Support Worker/ Carer

SUPPORT WORKER / BRAIN INJURY SUPPORT CARER

SALARY: £9.00 to £11.00 per hour

LOCATION: The role will initially require you to work alongside our client at The John Graham Centre.  You could be living in the Westgate-on-Sea, Herne Bay, Margate, Whitstable, Canterbury, Margate, Broadstairs or Ramsgate areas of Kent.  You should live within easy daily travelling distance, and have your own transport and a full clean driving license.

HOURS: 18 hours per week working flexibly between the hours of Monday – Sunday, 10.00am- 6.00pm.

Additional bank hours for evening trips or extended day trips available as required.  If a successful bond is formed the role will then involve working with our client outside of farm hours involving Saturday, Sunday and Monday work.

You will be joining a dedicated, friendly and caring team of professionals, providing support for a young man with an acquired brain injury which has resulted in cognitive and physical impairment. 

This role offers the opportunity to work alongside him and his support staff assisting to live independently in his own home and in the community in Westgate-on-Sea with the focus on providing highly individualised support and personal care.

Your day-to-day duties include:

* Assisting with personal care, exercise and social activities

* Implementing a behavioural management programme

* Providing companionship and support

* Assisting with medication

* Preparing meals and carrying out light domestic duties

* Working with and supporting other family member / carers

* Upholding and abiding by set policies and procedures

Experience of working in a care setting is essential, probably as a Carer / Care Worker / Support Carer Personal Carer, Social Worker or similar (this may be experience gained within the family). Experience of working with brain injured individuals desirable but not essential as full induction, training will be provided for the specific requirements of the role.

You may just have an interest in fishing, or horse riding and the outdoors which would be a distinct advantage in forming a successful bond.  You will certainly be extremely hardworking, reliable, flexible, and self -motivated with a positive and enthusiastic attitude, able to communicate effectively and have a professional, empathetic and caring manner.
