NSL manages outsourced services in highly regulated environments used by the public and has over 70 clients (including Transport for London, DVLA, Westminster City Council and many NHS Trusts) and employ 5,200 people to fulfil services for these contracts. Success has led NSL to create three specialist sectors dedicated to core markets; Central Government, Local Government and Health.
The purpose is to provide high quality advice and guidance directly to managers to facilitate the early resolution of particularly difficult, complex or sensitive employee relations issues, ensuring that the risks associated with such cases are effectively managed.
Key elements of the role:To be the first point of contact for managers and other personnel to provide advice and support on all Employee Relations issues. To help ensure a fair and consistent approach to the Company policies and procedures, promoting a positive Employee Relations culture within the Company, whilst minimising risksProvide face-to-face support to managers on employee relations matters and case work where requiredHelp maintain positive and constructive relationships between managers and staff representatives at all levels throughout the Company and actively encourage engagement with staffHelp ensure that effective employee relations frameworks are maintained and continuously reviewed to facilitate the participation, engagement, communication, consultation and negotiation on important people related issuesContribute to the review and development of the Company’s Employee Relations Policy and Procedures to promote best practice and safeguard the risks of non-compliance with employment legislationContribute as necessary to formal consultation exercises as part of organisational change initiativesMonitor issues on a regular basis to identify trends and to work in partnership with the HR Team to identify improvements to meet service needsProvide input and feedback in order to assist the development of the Company’s overall employee relations approachAttend disciplinaries of a more complex natureCoach and train Managers on company HR policy, procedures and Employment LawPrepare, co-ordinate and oversee Tribunal claims documents.Build relationship/raise HR profile with key internal and external customers and clientsProvide statistical ER analysisEnsure that all correspondence being sent is of good standard and quality and meets to their requirements

The ideal candidate:CIPD Qualified or equivalentExtensive, demonstrable experience of managing complex case work is essentialUp-to date applied knowledge of employment law Experience of working in a unionised/employee organised environment Facilitation, training and coaching techniquesFlexibility, as you will be required to travel for this position
The ideal candidate will be based in Birmingham or Manchester area and will be required to cover Midlands, North England and Scotland.
