My client is a very exciting leading multi-national manufacturing company with sites throughout the UK.
This position would suit some one who is dynamic and wants to progress into managing engineering teams in excess of 120 people
This position would suit an Engineering manager, Production Manager, Operations manager or Projects Manager.
·Day to day leadership of shift members including prioritisation and allocation of workload; deploying labour based on the demands and requirements of the task against the competency and capability of resource.
·Assessment of engineering team skills and assisting in upskilling and training of staff, including integration of first line maintenance of plant and equipment.
·Review and optimisation of shift cover.
·Support for administration and control of inventory and spares.
·Management and development of department processes; including shift handovers, briefs, and defect reporting/resolving
·Reporting and monitoring of data capture for automation and maintenance activities
·Maintain and improve performance to maximise efficiency of operation in line with KPIs
·Assisting in the management and development of planned maintenance system, asset register database, and equipment inventory.
·Ensure all health and safety issues are dealt with and administrated in a timely and efficient manner. Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and introduce preventative measures where appropriate.
·Reporting on and managing Hazards where identified, completing Accident and Near Miss reports as required, acting as a conduit for these issues identified by their team.
·Ensure work is being completed in a safe manner and completed to a safe standard. Ensure the right equipment is used, is safe and used in a safe manner.
·Attend and contribute to regular management meetings (some of which will be on scheduled days off).
·Support and propose innovative ideas to enhance the warehouse or engineering functions and improve the general running of the business.
·Deliver a high availability level within the operation to maximise our customer experience.
·Conduct daily briefings and ensure effective communications within the engineering department and between the Operational and support teams,
·Responsible for communication of issues/information to senior management.
·Proactive development of team members,
·Advise, lead and motivate team members, assess capability and identify and resolve training and skill requirements.
·Involvement in disciplinary issues in conjunction with the HR Team.
·Involvement in recruitment and training of subordinate staff.
·Maintain and promote good employee relations on site, ensuring potential problems are dealt with at an early stage.
·Build and maintain a strong working relationship with Key Operational customers, and all other support function managers including HR, Projects and services
·Ensure effective deployment of labour resource based on capability, competency and experience
·Succession planning for the team, including appraisal and personal development planning as well as recruitment activities from time to time.
