Supplier / Customer Relationship Manager
We’re looking for a Relationship Manager to join the successful team at my client’s market-leading consultancy which specialises in working with household name retailers to improve the processes and costs associated with payment supply chains. High profile clients include online and high street retailers, leisure and tourism as well as service provider customers across the UK. The Relationship Manager is a highly commercial individual who builds strong relationships with retailer customers and suppliers, through gaining a comprehensive understanding of each client’s payments arrangements. Delivering exceptional project results by using the outcome of detailed analysis (from the analysis team) and great learned industry knowledge to recommend and then oversee the implementation of cost reduction and process improvement solutions. You will be responsible for leading client relationships in-life and will spend a lot of your time working closely with suppliers to negotiate new prices and contracts. Whilst this isn’t a sales role, you’ll be driving cross sales and value from your portfolio of clients through the delivery of outstanding project results which lead to further revenue opportunities, testimonials and referrals. The role involves: *Responsibility for ownership and management of a portfolio of up to 30 clients, driving income opportunities, both new and on-going. *Leading client projects from sale to completion, involving preparing presentations and presenting findings to clients; negotiating with suppliers; preparing contractual project documentation; calculating project fees and effectively managing client communication. * Understanding and grasping the complexity of analysis and interpreting it for client’s benefit.*Becoming the expert on all Payments market subjects which could include attending seminars and conferences. *Providing support to Sales & Marketing teams, attending sales meetings as needed to act as the Payments product expert. We’re looking for candidates with strong negotiation and supplier / customer relationship management experience. Ideally with exposure to a client facing role, preferably from a professional services or similar background – this could be accountancy, consultancy, audit, or maybe those on Graduate schemes at large retailers, energy or utility firms for example. You’ll have strong commercial awareness and great negotiation skills whilst also possessing a high level of numeracy, accuracy and analysis ability. Educated to degree level (minimum 2:1) and with a good A level Mathematics qualification or equivalent. An understanding of the payments market, in particular merchant acquiring and payment service provider supply chains would be a real plus for this role although strong MS Office skills, negotiation and commerciality is the priority.
