Risk Manager

Permanent  for Serco in Woodford, Salisbury

Serco UK and Europe Defence Support Dstl Contract is an operating Division of Serco Group plc. The Division provides outsourced services to the UK MoD and other organisations of which the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) is one. We are currently undertaking a £115M infrastructure programme at our Porton Down site near Salisbury in order to deliver a wide portfolio of unique and exciting technical facilities in the Defence sector. The programme is due to run for 4 years with the possibility of further projects thereafter.To support this project, we are seeking an experienced Risk Manager. The successful candidate will form part of the Major Infrastructure Project Team (MIPO). The MIPO provides support to Dstl and in particular the Future Infrastructure Connected Programme to help ensure the smooth and efficient management and operation of the Programme being undertaken by the business. The role is required to provide Risk/Issues management into the various projects being undertaken by the MIPO to minimise risk of failure during design and construction into business as usual by providing specific focus on this critical period of contract development.Main accountabilities:- Assist in providing an independent risk assurance review for the Future Infrastructure Connected Programme.- Provide and ensure Risk and Issues Management is undertaken professionally in accordance with the Serco Management System and Dstl policy.Main responsibilities:- Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate processes for management of Risks and Issues required for successful programme delivery- Facilitate regular Risk & Issues reviews ensuring that mitigation activities are identified, planned and managed through to conclusion- Provide Risk and Issues reports into the PMO and highlight any major areas of concern that may impact upon our ability to successfully deliver- Provide appropriate reports into Gate Reviews, Project and Programme Board ensuring that best practice is adhered to and that resulting actions are completed and outcomes captured- Undertake Lessons Learned workshops to improve Transition and programme efficiency across business - Document preparation for meetings and assist with collation of management reports where necessary- Willingness to travel to site locations when necessary

Qualifications and Experience required:- Educated to HND / Degree level- Knowledge of Construction industry including RIBA and NEC- Prince2 Practitioner - MS Office (Word, Excel, etc) - Programme recovery/improvement, creating and controlling a high impact RI function- Commissioning of internal and external audit- Problem solving and issue resolution, risk assessment and management- Reporting and stakeholder management- Experience of using risk analytical tools (such as @Risk, Pertmaster, Active Risk Manager and Predict etc) to carry out cost and schedule QRAs.- Currently hold or be able to attain unrestricted UK SC level clearancePreferred Knowledge- MSP Qualified - Advantageous- Risk practitioner qualifications (IRM, APM MoR) - Advantageous- Full knowledge of the project lifecycle- Commercial, contractual and all-round business awareness- Risk and Issues Management - Good Presentation Skills
