Storage Specialist – Cheshire Cheshire based – £70,000 – £90,000 Our client, a leading financial institution is looking for experienced Data Management Specialist to lead internal and external project delivery for Global Storage. The Global Storage team works with the project management and customer community, and focuses design/delivery effort in priority order against projects. The role holder will be highly motivated in the delivery & understanding of robust infrastructure designs for large-scale enterprise class storage, data protection, data tiering, data life-cycle management, hierarchical Storage Management and hold a proven record working with Storage specialists, inclusive of global storage vendors. Key responsibilities: * Owndevelop designs for specific backup and storage technology solutions from high-level and detailed-level designs to deployment and handover to delivery * Design efficient detailed solutions that are operationally cost effective to maintain, ensuring that they align with global strategy and SLA’s * Identify maintenance savings costs based on effort required, value delivered and customer expectations * Vendor management for storage solutions * Excellent understanding of Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) including data life-cycle management * Broad knowledge of Enterprise, Mid-Tier and Archive storage solutions from suppliers such as EMC, IBM, Brocade Cisco, NetApp and HDS * Data Backup and design including the use of software from IBM, EMC, Symantec & HP * Enhanced knowledge and understand of industry Data performance best practices and performance benchmarking techniques * Closely manage detailed plans/designs to ensure a common design/delivery approach across the piece. * Develop the governance, technical authority, leadership, and direction necessary for the resolution of infrastructure issues that have not been resolved adequately at the detailed design level. * Liaise and manage Suppliers, including sales, technical, engineers, account managers etc * Manage the build & installation of system components including infrastructure, hardware, & middleware. Key Skills: * Fully accountable for the delivery of infrastructure initiatives, projects, requests for change, and operational enhancements. * Can produce test specifications/plans as required by project/change implementation plans, conducts tests as defined in these specifications, and records the details of any failures in a concise but complete manner. * Develops the governance, technical authority, leadership, and direction necessary for the resolution of infrastructure issues that have not been resolved adequately at the detailed design level. * Taking action to achieve goals beyond what is required, being pro-active * Strives to make use of common infrastructure, systems, and support resources to manage costs down.
