Our Central Belt based utilities client is one of the largest consumers of electricity in Scotland, with energy supply costs of over £40m per annum representing approximately 15% of their annual operating costs. They currently have a fantastic opportunity for an Energy Contracts Specialist.
Specific Key Accountabilities/Tasks:Understand business needs and energy consumption/spend profiles.Responsible for the management of external energy supplier contracts and the management of energy-related external third party service contracts.Use analysis to develop energy contract and portfolio management strategies that maximise value.Engage and challenge stakeholders to achieve buy-in and approval of the strategy.Pro-actively manage our client’s energy procurement strategy, contracts and methodology to deliver contracts that provide measurable benefit and contribute to our client’s energy targets.Own and lead our client’s Energy Risk Management Policy, Procedure and execution.Lead Key Supplier Relationship process ( SLA / KPIs ) and Supplier Development programme to deliver performance improvements, cost-out initiatives and more sustainable procurement.Keep abreast of energy supply industry developments and trends relevant to our client’s and the water industry as a whole to understand the impact and implications of energy procurement decisions on the organisation and apply this knowledge to generate robust energy procurement strategies.Negotiate with energy-related suppliers to deliver cost optimisation and other benefits to our clients and to achieve energy business plan targets
Essential Skills/Knowledge:Good understanding of the UK energy markets, market dynamics and regulatory environment.Knowledge/experience of energy contracts (supply contracts and related supporting service contracts).Understanding of electricity price risk management principles.Experience managing 3rd party supplier relationships (e.g. through SLAs , KPIs , etc)Experience of undertaking critical reviews of documents and data and the ability to draw conclusions from analysis and report clearly on findings and ability to construct convincing business cases.Experience of developing business proposals (e.g. Board Papers) and regulatory submissionsAbility to produce and present reports for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable Skills:An understanding of the utility business environment including regulatory requirements, customer service standards, investment planning and operational efficiency.
