Chief Engineer – Defence, Cryptography and Radio TechnologyLocation – North London Salary: up to £70,000 + Bens depending on experience A long established and successful defence engineering company is looking for a Chief Engineer who is experienced in radion communications and cryptography to join their team in North-West London to work on complex electronic engineering projects. The successful candidate will manage the business units engineering function and report to the secure communications Business Unit Director.Grab this chance to work with a company at the forefront of electronic and systems technology !Responsibilities of the role:* Line management, resource management, and technical leadership for a group of multi-disciplinary engineers* Works with Programme Management to ensure that engineering deliverables are made on time, to budget and of suitable functionality and quality.* Continuously improves engineering capability in terms of people, practices, tools and technology.* Supports bids and proposals with technical resource; in particular, provides clear technical proposals and accurate costs for all engineering activities.* Ensures all engineering is compliant with relevant internal and external processes and legislation, and supports associated audits in this regard.* Responsible for the engineering facilities (i.e. development and test labs)* Provides the senior technical relationship with customers, suppliers and other external bodies* Represents the engineering function Required Experiences:* In-depth understanding of radio technology and techniques* Comprehensive understanding of security issues and practical use of cryptos* Familiar with operation of RF test equipment, e.g. spectrum analysers, network analysers, vector signal generators, vector signal analysers etc.* Detailed knowledge of mathematical simulation tool, preferably MathCad* Thorough knowledge of signal processing techniques.* Ability to challenge given solutions using theory, experience, gathered data and other evidence.* Full understanding of the system engineering lifecycle and V-model.
