We have an opportunity which has opened for an experienced software test engineer ideally within the defence field to be based at the Bedfordshire site. We are currently looking for a talented Software Engineer to join the Software Engineering team. This opportunity will lead to you become part of a dynamic and innovative team working on key technologies. As a Software Test Engineer you will have worked on programmes through the full Software Engineering Lifecycle, with focus on the testing and integration aspects of software development.Your responsibilities will include:- Planning, conducting and coordinating software development activities. - Designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. - Application of the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. - Applying knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. - Correcting program errors- Preparing operating instructions- Compiling documentation of program development- Analysing system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.- Ensuring software standards are met.Essential required skills and experiences include:- Full Software Engineering Lifecycle experience, with focus on the testing and integration aspects of software development- UML modelling tools (e.g. Rhapsody)- requirements capture tools (e.g. DOORS).- proficient in the use of software source control tools (e.g. SubVersion) - Proficient in issue tracking tools (e.g. Bugzilla)- competent developer in C/C++ with other languages viewed as a bonus- Development of software level use-cases and requirements from system requirements- Development of high-level and detailed software design- Production and unit testing of source code- Development and execution of software tests and support to software/system integration- Experience in developing test requirements, test descriptions and test cases - Experience in conducting test runs and be able to provide detailed feedback to support the resolution of issues found.Each candidate will be required to attain full SC clearance prior to starting.
