Senior Mechanical Engineer
Senior Mechanical Engineer – West Sussex – £50-55kpa plus benefits.Our West Sussex based client is a leader in the design and manufacture of high cost, low volume capital equipment. They require a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the development of new products from concept to engineering release. Successful candidates will also perform classical engineering analysis on designs, conduct engineering stress analysis, fatigue, vibration analysis using both conventional engineering analysis and through computer simulation using in-house engineering analysis software and liaising with third party FEA consultancies.Experience/Responsibilities* Extensive experience in the design of complex mechanisms and structures for use in harsh environments preferably in the defence industry.* Proven experience in the design of systems from the original concept design, produced from a specification, through to production.* A strong analytical ability using Finite element and non FE methods in dynamics, structural and thermal analysis. * An ability to analyse the loads on, and design solutions for, items such as gear drives bearings and motors and to provide input on these loads to the servo and electronic design.* An understanding of the application of machining, casting, fabrication and moulding techniques to the design of systems.* Experience in the use of Solid works and ideally Solid edge CAD systems.* The ability to integrate with other disciplines to provide an integrated design solution that best balances the requirements.* A proven ability to manage staff and allocate work to achieve costs and timescales on several simultaneous programs.* An ability to work with all areas within the company to achieve the overall company objectives.* The ability to liaise with customers verbally and in writing in an effective manner. To produce reports and participate in formal design reviews and other meetings.* The ability to select and liaise with suppliers, and work with in house manufacturing staff to achieve project timescales to solve manufacturing problems.
Qualifications/Experience * Degree in Mechanical Engineering* HND with endorsement equivalent to a degree.* An Apprenticeship in an industry that provided relevant practical experience in manufacturing methods and design.* Post graduate courses in such areas as, applied analytical techniques, advance materials applications, program management and the use of solid works/solid edge CADThis is an excellent opportunity in an exciting company.
