Temporary Contract (up to 9 months)


Salary £19,644 to £25,200 (pro rata)

The mission of the college is to deliver a high quality, inclusive and comprehensive curriculum, in an accessible and flexible way.

An opportunity has arisen for a Temporary Welfare Advisor to join us to deliver an informed and effective welfare service to individuals and groups of clients, supporting the enrolment, retention and achievement of learners within the college and working with partner organisations in the overall delivery of this service.

You will contribute to an informed, impartial and supportive advice and guidance service on a variety of student finance, benefits, and welfare matters, supporting curriculum staff to enrol students and directly deliver financial education programmes/activities to meet the needs of such students.

Regularly liaising with curriculum and support staff who work with the full range of College students, including home students of any age, employed students, international, asylum seekers, refugees and others as relevant, you must attend promotional and progression events throughout the year and contribute to continuous self-assessment and development of Welfare and Departmental services in line with national quality standards.

With the ability to deal sensitively, flexibly and with empathy to customers from a range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including those for who English is not their first language, you should have knowledge and understanding of a wide range of occupational, student finance and welfare matters and their implications for customers, including some knowledge of immigration issues.

Working accurately and proactively to maintain and develop departmental records, resources, systems and procedures, you must have experience of working in a Welfare Advisor role and strong organisational skills; a level 3 qualification in Guidance is desirable.
