HMP Dovegate HMP Dovegate is a category B prison based near Uttoxeter in Staffordshire. We care for over 1100 male adult prisoners over the age of 21 all serving a range of sentences including those on remand, awaiting sentence and convicted men serving a range of sentences.
We currently have an exciting opportunity to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual to the role of Assistant Director Residential.
Overview of Role
As a member of the Senior Management Team you will report directly to the Deputy Contract Director.
Your primary responsibilities will be toSupport the delivery of the strategic aims of the prisonProvide safe operational management of the Residential Houseblocks, Care & Separation Unit (CSU) and Healthcare Centre Provide line management support for Residential, Care & Separation Unit (CSU) and Healthcare Managers.Provide support to the prison and operational leadership as Duty Director.
As the successful candidate you must have strong security, operational and senior management experience gained within a prison environment where you have managed complex staff teams and projects. You will be; PCO accredited or Public Sector Trained and be trained and certified in Command and Control of Serious Incidents and Adjudications procedures.
Commercially astute, you will be able to handle multiple projects concurrently and have the ability to work under pressure to meet tight and challenging deadlines. Having high levels of resilience you will possess well developed problem solving skills with the ability to think creatively to satisfactorily resolve problems in a systematic and logical manner.
You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills coupled with the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels to gain agreement and/or commitment from others. You will thrive within a challenging environment and provide the leadership and drive required to successfully implement and embed change.
You will be self-motivated with effective decision making and problem solving skills that are outcome and results focused. You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to evidence the drive and determination to make a difference.
You should be able to manage your workload, prioritise according to risk and be prepared to make decisions and be held accountable for those decisions.
Strong Microsoft Office experience coupled with good management reporting skills are required in this role.
