Operations Assistant

Role: Station Operations Assistant

Location: Middle Wallop Air Station

Hours: 40 hours per week on a various shift rotation

The Army Aviation Centre is the home of UK Army Aviation, conducting training for officers and soldiers in crucial aircrew and ground-crew roles.

We`re looking for a highly organised Operations Assistant to be based at the School of Army Aviation here in Middle Wallop, Hampshire.

It`s a key position with a diverse range of responsibilities including:

-Making low flying bookings and closing down bookings when complete

-Making bookings for practice diversions and other training flight requirements

-Booking landaways, refuels and other services at other airfields

-Receiving and coordinating all bookings and subsequent requirements for non-Middle Wallop aircraft coming into the airfield

-Providing flight following service for Middle Wallop aircraft

-Briefing Flying Wing personnel at Station Briefings

-Assisting Flying Supervisors in the coordination of night flying requirements

-Acting as the focal point for aviation enquiries

-Acting as the initiating authority in the event of an aviation incident or accident involving Middle Wallop, its aircraft, or any aircraft operating in the vicinity

-Assisting in the running of the Crisis Management Centre

-Assisting the ATC Supervisor in the event of overdue action

-Promptly and accurately receiving, processing and disseminating aeronautical information

-Maintaining, amending and controlling the unit aviation maps, charts and aeronautical documentation and disseminating changes thereto in accordance with MoD requirements

-Maintaining and amending the Unit`s briefing materials and displays

The successful applicant will have:

-A clean driving licence

-Good interpersonal skills and a professional telephone manner (essential), as well as good recent administrative experience

-The ability to work alone and within a small team environment

-The ability to work shifts, including four days of 5pm-2am night-flight cover roughly one week in every five

-Good computer skills (desirable)

-MOD experience (preferable)

-Eligibility for SC clearance
