Accounts/Administration Assistant

Permanent  for Tracsis in Pride Park, Derby

A great opportunity has become available to join a growing company based in Derby, working as a full time Accounts/Administration Assistant.

MPEC is part of the Tracsis Group, and is the leading supplier of remote condition monitoring hardware to the UK railway and has helped make Britain’s railways safer and more reliable.

You will work under the direction of the Company Directors, and you will be responsible for carrying out a range of Accounts and Administration duties and providing general support to the team. This is a great opportunity to learn, develop new skills and experience and to build a good foundation within accounts in a successful growing company which is part of a successful wider Group.

The ideal candidate will have to be someone who enjoys a varied role with an understanding of both accounts and administration. You need to be an enthusiastic individual who is able to work independently whilst supporting other team members.

The role is exceptionally varied and the duties of this position include but are not limited to:


-Responsibility for maintaining all accounting records and processing all accounting transactions – including sales ledger, purchase ledger, debt collection, credit card analysis, expenses, payments, banking and so on

-Assisting in the month end management accounts process as required

-[Running of monthly payroll processing and associated tasks including pensions and PAYE

-Ad hoc finance queries as required by the company Directors

Office Administration:

-Arrangement of events, conferences and other business support activities

-Company policies and procedures drafting, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, and any related tasks specific to the rail industry and necessary standards compliance and audit

-Involvement in sales admin processes if required, including assisting with tenders for work

-Sorting out incoming and outgoing daily post and answering any queries, along with telephone answering

-Filing documents

-A wide range of other ad hoc administration and support duties necessary for the smooth running of the business

Essential skills:

-Working knowledge of SAGE (SAGE 50) is absolutely essential along with previous accounts experience

-Integrity, discretion, reliability, quick to learn, self starter, capable of taking initiative, confidence in dealing with a wide range of people at all levels

-Knowledge of Quick Books is desirable but not essential
