Commercial Finance Business Partner

An opportunity has arisen within the Commercial Finance team for a Commercial Finance Business Partner to support the Property, Store Development and Procurement teams.Reporting to the Head of Operational Finance, the successful candidate will work alongside the teams, providing detailed financial analysis and interpretation of management information in support of investment decisions as part of the strategic agenda. This role plays an integral role in the decision making within the Property team, and also provides the financial support to the Store Development and Procurement departments.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial modelling of future investment proposals in order to support the decision process, with particular emphasis on relocations/right sizes and 50:39 roll outAttend Capex meetings with the Property and Store Development Director to explain the financial data associated with investment appraisalsTo provide weekly/monthly updates on the performance of invested stores Conduct post investment performance reviews of stores to assess the accuracy of projections and ensure investment hurdles are being achievedTo monitor the expected outcome of the capex plan to ensure both the current year and 3 year target is metSupport the budgeting and forecasting process within the Property, Store Development and Procurement functions (including property cost lines such as rent and rates, day to day repairs, planned maintenance and store change costs), influencing the team to ensure targets are achievable but stretching.Monitor actual costs against targets on a monthly basis, including month end journals, provisions and commentary, driving cost control across the departmentWork alongside Integral, our Property Maintenance business partner, to provide insightful and timely information for both planned and reactive repairs ensuring target is delivered Supporting the Head of Operational Finance through the provision of timely information, analysis and interpretation of dataPersonal AttributesThe successful candidate will be an accountant who is able to demonstrate initiative, self-motivation and be used to working within a team.Ideally the candidate will have experience using investment appraisal techniques and have strong skills in modelling, data manipulation, analysis and interpretation (and hence good Excel skills).In addition we are looking for a confident individual with good communication skills and commercial acumen, who can present financial data in an easy to understand style that both informs and influences the decision making process with the Property team.
