The Defence Academy is responsible for post-graduate education and the majority of command, staff, leadership, defence management, acquisition and technology training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants.Managed by Serco Defence, it is also responsible for the provision of non-technical research and assessment in support of the Department, and for establishing and maintaining itself as the MOD`s primary link with UK universities and with international military educational institutions. We are currently seeking an experienced Building Supervisor to work within the Property Services team of the Estates department at the Academy. This key role is fully accountable and responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of planned, remedial, reactive and new works for general building related projects including grounds maintenance delivered via directly employed and subcontracted labour for the MOD and other customers at the Defence Academy, having due regard to health, safety, quality and costs of the operations undertaken.The successful candidate will need to have an excellent understanding of general building / construction processes and procedures with good planning and organisational ability. Knowledge and Qualifications:Essential:- Practical experience in building / maintenance / construction supervision or management- Experience of working in a building maintenance environment at a supervisory level- NVQ level 2 qualified in a construction related discipline- All round knowledge of H&S relevant to construction processes.- IOSH or NEBOSH Certificate in Construction Health and Safety would be highly desirable.Desirable:- BOHS P405 proficiency certificate- CSCS (experienced) Manager`s card- Demonstrable understanding of both current Building Regulations and CDM Regulations highly desirable- Previous MOD experience is advantageous.- Member / working towards membership of a relevant professional institute.
