Our client provides a range of social care, special education, community support and consultancy services in the North West of England. The charity is one of the North West’s largest providers of residential homes for children from short-term emergency care to long-term placements. Their fostering service provides family placements in the North West and neighbouring regions.
They provide some of the leading specialist education services in the North West region, operating a range of special schools, a large further education college and centres supporting those who cannot attend mainstream schools. In addition, they offer a wide range of training, consultancy and support services for parents and carers.
One of our client’s specialist education services, are now looking to appoint a General Teacher on a temporary basis for 12 months.
The school is an independent special school which caters for children and young people aged 8 to 18 years who have struggled to cope in other settings because of their individual barriers to learning.
As a General Teacher, you will teach pupils in accordance with the curriculum and ensure that they achieve their fullest potential. Working in partnership with parents/carers in providing quality education experience for all the pupils, you will monitor the progress of each child; keeping records and evaluating the pupil’s achievements.
With the highest expectation of every child, believing that every learner has a potential for development, you will plan and resource the classroom in order to encourage the development of all aspects of children’s learning and in particular to encourage children towards the independent use of resources and involvement in their learning.
The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher who has experience of teaching and working successfully with BESD pupils. You will have experience of curriculum development and be committed to meeting pupils’ individual needs. The role requires an individual with a broad interest in current BESD issues and someone who can recognise that pupils are angry and discourage by past experiences.
